Three packages to help with your moderation needs

Pobble provides strategic consultancy, external validation and professional development to support individual schools, school groups and multi-academy trusts in securing accuracy, consistency and confidence in writing assessment.

Writing assessment strategy call for trust leaders

A focused 60-minute strategic conversation to strengthen the accuracy, consistency and leadership of writing assessment across your trust.

Writing assessment is one of the most professionally complex and strategically important areas of primary education.

For multi-academy trusts, the challenge is rarely effort or intent. It is consistency. Alignment. Confidence.

This session offers senior leaders the opportunity to step back from day-to-day operational demands and review how writing assessment is functioning across the trust strategically, systemically and cohesively.

External validation sessions

A structured, collaborative moderation experience designed to strengthen confidence and consistency in writing assessment.

Our external validation sessions provide structured, expert-facilitated moderation designed to improve trust-wide consistency and deepen understanding of writing standards.

These sessions are positive, purposeful and grounded in collaborative professional discussion.

We include a free 30-minute strategic planning call ahead of the validation session to ensure your team can make the most of the moderation.

External validation - Pobble
By the end of an external validation session, your team will:
  • Have greater confidence in the accuracy of assessment judgements
  • Understand where decisions are secure — and where they require refinement

  • Celebrate effective curriculum provision

  • Strengthen shared standards across the school

What to expect:

  • A 3-hour remote session, with focused time and no travel.

  • Professional discussion celebrating up to 6 writing collections (for Year 2 and /or Year 6)

  • The teachers who made the judgements lead the discussions with the moderator.

  • Senior leader attendance is recommended;  we suggest your English lead and / or assessment lead join to support alignment and shared understanding.

  • By the end of the session, your team will feel more confident in the accuracy of judgements, understand where decisions are secure and where they need refinement, strengthen shared standards across the school, and agree clear next steps.

How it works
To access remote moderation, writing collections are uploaded to Pobble ahead of the session. Creating a collection takes just a few minutes. Collections are not pre-read; the professional discussion happens live.

£595 +VAT for the validation session and a 30-minute planning call

End of KS2 statutory assessment CPD

Looking for extra support for your Year 6 teachers? Join one of our live or on-demand online CPD sessions designed to build confidence in statutory writing assessment and end of key stage judgements.

By the end of the sessions, teachers will have a clearer understanding of the standards expected at the end of KS2, and feel more confident in their assessments.

Who leads Pobble Moderation Services?

Introducing Head of Moderation and Assessment, Laura

I lead Pobble's moderation services, working with individual schools and multi-academy trusts to make writing assessment feel consistent, purposeful and genuinely useful. My background is in school leadership and primary school improvement, so I understand what's at stake when moderation doesn't quite land.

Laura (3)
"Thank you so much for yesterday. Both teachers came away from the moderation feeling empowered, proud of themselves and like they had had a fantastic professional development opportunity. The way you and the team managed the moderation was very much appreciated, and I would like to thank you for that."
